Sourcing
Every story is based on published reporting or official records and links to them. We state only what the sources support, and we say who said it: “ENR reports”, “according to the Justice Department”. When sources disagree, we say so.
How we use AI
We use AI tools from Anthropic to scan sources for possible stories, to draft stories from the original reporting and to translate them. An editor chooses every story we cover. Drafts follow strict rules: our own words, no copied sentences, every fact attributed, numbers checked against the source. We review published stories and fix errors as soon as we find them.
Allegations and charges
Charges, indictments and lawsuits are allegations until a court decides, and we say so. We don’t name private individuals who are charged but not convicted. We do name companies and public officials when official records name them.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. To report an error, write to [email protected] with a link to the story.
Independence and advertising
Advertisers and sources have no say in what we cover or how we cover it. Sponsored material is always labeled and never mixed into the news.
